Privacy
What we collect, why, and what we do with it.

The short version
We collect what we need to make a deck and post it to you. Email, recipient name, theme, dedication, payment via Stripe, shipping address. We don't sell your data. We don't send marketing emails unless you opt in. You can ask us to delete everything by emailing hello@getfano.com.
What we collect
To make and deliver your deck: your email address, the recipient's first name, the theme you type, the dedication for the title card, your tier choice, your shipping address, and (after “mark shipped”) a tracking number.
For payment: card details are collected directly by our payment processor — we never see or store full card numbers. We retain the last four digits and the card brand for receipt purposes.
For analytics: page views and funnel progress, via a third-party product-analytics platform. The platform's own consent and opt-out controls apply automatically — we honour your browser's Do Not Track signal and any cookie preference you set on its banner.
Server logs: IP address, user agent, and request path, retained for 30 days for abuse prevention and debugging.
Why we collect it
- Order fulfilment: draw the memories, render the deck, send it to print, ship it, email you receipts and tracking.
- Customer service: answer your questions about your order.
- Legal: keep enough records to comply with tax and accounting obligations.
- Analytics: understand which pages work and which don't, so we can make the product better. Aggregate only.
Who we share it with
We use a small set of third-party service providers to run FANO. Each only receives the data it needs to do its job:
- A payment processor, to charge your card and handle refunds.
- A print and fulfilment partner, who prints your deck and ships it. They see your shipping address and the artwork. They never see your email.
- AI generation services, used to produce the 57 memories and the supporting text. They see the theme and dedication you type. They don't receive your email or address.
- A cloud infrastructure provider, where the application runs and order records are stored.
- A product-analytics platform, to understand which pages work and which don't. Sees page events and a pseudonymous visitor ID, never your name or address.
We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We'll only share with law enforcement if legally required, and we'll tell you if we can. You can request the current vendor list by emailing us — we're happy to share, we just don't pin specific names to the policy so they can change without a re-publish.
How long we keep it
Order records: seven years, for tax and accounting. Theme + dedication text: we delete it 30 days after the deck ships, unless you ask us to keep it longer (e.g. for a reorder). Server logs: 30 days. Analytics: 12 months, then aggregated and anonymised.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Send you a copy of everything we have on you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your data. We'll honour this except for records we're legally required to keep (orders, tax receipts).
- Stop using your data for analytics.

California residents (CCPA)
We are based in California, USA, and California's Consumer Privacy Act applies to all our customers, not just Californians. The rights described above (access, deletion, correction) are your CCPA rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. If you submit a CCPA request and we can't verify your identity from the email on file, we'll ask you to confirm your most recent order details.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to remember your in-progress order so you don't lose work if you refresh. Our analytics platform sets its own cookies and presents its own consent controls — preferences set there are honoured automatically. We don't use advertising cookies and we don't share data with ad networks.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we'll update the date at the top and email anyone who's placed an order in the last 12 months.
